As BrainVISA database is represented in two different ways (a directory and a relational database), sometimes it can be necessary to update the relational database because it doesn't fit anymore with the real data on disk or because the ontology changed.

Indeed, when you install a new version of BrainVISA, and you have kept the same database, BrainVISA usually suggests to update this database to take into account the potential modifications of the BrainVISA ontology.

You might need to update your BrainVISA database also if you modify manually some files in the database directory. Indeed, all modification done outside BrainVISA will not be taken into account automatically. BrainVISA will need to parse your database directory to update its internal representation of the database.

Such udpate can be done with the special process Data Management -> Update Databases.
